Matt Cooke
Social Impact Co-Chair
Matt Cooke has 15 years’ experience designing for print and interactive applications. Matt began his career in the commercial sector, before working for six years at the World Cancer Research Fund in London, where he served as Head of Communication and Education. His user-centered design work for the fund was recognized for its excellence by the British Medical Association, and has been published in “Visual Research: an introduction to research methodologies in graphic design”, (AVA Publishing, 2005), and “Design Studies: Theory and Research in Graphic Design”, (Princeton Architectural Press, 2006).
He co-owns, and is a Creative Director at, Iron Creative in San Francisco. Academically, he serves as a part-time professor in the New Media Department at Academy of Art University in San Francisco – teaching Typography in the Masters Program. He has been a visiting lecturer at the University of San Francisco, Arkansas State University and Arizona State University, and is the current Social Impact Co-Chair on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco AIGA. Cooke holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and graduated with Distinction from the London College of Printing with a Master’s Degree in Typo/Graphic Design.
